About Helsinki

The vibrant capital of Finland!

Helsinki’s story began centuries ago when King Gustav I of Sweden recognized the strategic significance of this coastal region, establishing a modest trading post by the shores of the Baltic Sea.

Throughout the ages, Helsinki’s destiny evolved amidst the shifting tides of empires, reaching its zenith when designated as the capital in 1812 under the Russian Grand Duchy.

Despite the trials of history, Helsinki’s resilient inhabitants forged ahead, rebuilding their city. Today, Helsinki stands as a testament to resilience and renewal, blending modernity with a rich architectural heritage that echoes its storied past.

I’m Ed

I’ve been guiding tours in Helsinki since 2018 and I have discovered that walking tours are the best way to share Helsinki with visitors.

Why small groups?

Having done free walking tours for over 10 years with group sizes from 1 to 100 people, I felt that it was time to move on to a different kind of tour experience.

The years after the pandemic have shown me that I enjoy smaller groups where one can interact with their surroundings better, ask questions and get the most out of their time on the tour. For this reason, group sizes are limited to a maximum of 10 people. This provides a closer, more enriching experience while being more respectful of the locals who work and live in the city.
