Embark on a journey through Suomenlinna's fortifications in 3 hours.

Suomenlinna is one of the top tourist attractions in Helsinki and is only a 15-minute boat ride away from the Market Square.
Join me for a walk through the island’s fortifications and we will discuss the unique shape of the fortress, the history of its construction, the significance of Suomenlinna in the emergence of Helsinki as a capital as well as the wars that have helped shape the fortress and Finland as we know it today.
This site can only be guided by authorised Suomenlinna guides and there are strict controls over walking tours on the fortress. For this reason, the price is fixed, and the tour must be booked with a minimum 24 hour notice.

The terrain has uneven surfaces, steep hills and cobbled streets. It can be very challenging to those with limited mobility.
But take in consideration the stamina of your children and check the weather beforehand!

NiklasSuomenlinna is Helsinki’s only UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for its historic fortifications and strategic importance. Built across several islands, it played a pivotal role in Finland’s history and continues to be a symbol of national identity.
The Suomenlinna Tour typically lasts approximately 3 hours, allowing ample time to explore the island’s fortifications, learn about its history, and appreciate its architectural and natural beauty.
The tour covers approximately 3 kilometers. But the terrain on Suomenlinna is quite challenging at times so be prepared for uneven surfaces, steep hills and cobbled streets. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
There is a public transport boat which leaves the Market Square roughly every 20 minutes from May to September and every 40 minutes from October to April. The boat costs 2.95€ for a single ticket and a day ticket is 9€ (which includes 24h travel on all public transport in the city).
